About Us
Come see what the former Mobil Acres Campground has transformed into under its new ownership. Named after the founder of this delightful campground nestled along the third branch of the Whiter River, Abel Mountain is happy to welcome campers to its familiar serene and friendly atmosphere in its newly upgraded and improved facility.
The Rea family purchased the campground in the spring of 2003 dedicated to completing the necessary improvements while continuing to provide a pleasant vacation destination for campers of all sorts. With the start of the 2005 camping season all sites had upgraded water and electric connections, which include 20/30/50 amp service. We welcome tenters, pop-ups, full size campers and RV’s alike. Having two young children in our own family, we love to see families enjoying time together, experiencing the adventure camping can bring. We offer a variety of activities to entertain campers of all ages. Pick up a trail map and hit the trails for a leisurely hike along the river or a more demanding hike to the top of Abel Mountain to enjoy some spectacular views of the village of Randolph. Slow the pace with a game of Bingo at the pavilion or a visit to the Craft Hour offered weekly. Cool off at the pool or paddle in the river. Enjoy a “night out” at the pavilion for some live music or some quiet time by the campfire under the stars.
We offer 101 spacious and grassy sites; 87 full hook-ups (water, electric, sewer and cable) and 14 water and electric only. For those wishing to take in the relaxing sounds of the river, there are many riverbank sites available. All sites have picnic tables and large fire rings. On site you will find basketball hoops, two playgrounds, a horseshoe pit, swimming pool and great lawns for a game of croquet or whiffle ball. In an effort to expand the activities available to our guests, we will be installing the campground’s first-ever shuffleboard court this season. Hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station are also on site.
With the 2006 Season came a new 30'x50' swimming pool, along with a completely renovated bath house, new shuffleboard court and a new volleyball court! The fun just keeps getting better!
A bridge constructed at the start of the 2004 camping season connects the campground to a wonderful and most peaceful 270 acre playground for everyone to enjoy. Hikers, runners and mountain bikers of all abilities will enjoy trails that range from river level to mountain top views. Trail maps are available at the campground office and the trails are color coded for easy use. The 270 acre wood lot owned by the Rea family was the previous home of the Pedro’s New England Mountain Bike Festival.
Come join us for some great Vermont camping and create memories your family will treasure forever.
